CADENAS GmbH reports its new membership in the Industrial Digital Twin Association e.V. (IDTA). The IDTA is the first point of contact for all aspects of the standardized digital twin and offers a platform for participation to all industrial organizations. The goal is to establish the Digital Twin for components, machines, systems and entire factories as an open source technology and to further develop it together with the industry.
The Augsburg-based software manufacturer CADENAS is already actively involved in the development of digital twins through its participation in various research projects and its membership in various committees and expert groups, and is now expanding its presence in this area.
New Industry Standard
Membership in IDTA provides CADENAS with direct access to expert knowledge on the digitization of industry in all sectors. The Asset Administration Shell (AAS) maps partial models of Digital Twins. It is able to map the entire lifecycle of products, machines or entire plants. The AAS is of importance for the digitalization of value chains. CADENAS can further expand the potential of the Asset Administration Shell through its cooperation in IDTA.
Asset Administration Shell
The Asset Administration Shell stores all important information and data of a specific product throughout its entire lifecycle, such as the digital nameplate, technical data or 3D CAD data. Component manufacturers who compile the most important data for their products and make it available in AASX format on 3Dfindit increase their sales opportunities, according to CADENAS.
“Since the beginning of the year CADENAS provides the administration shell for download. A growing demand (see evaluation as graphic) has clearly signaled to us that it is a must for CADENAS to become an active member of the IDTA”, says Jürgen Heimbach, CEO of CADENAS.
“With its platform, CADENAS provides access to 3D models from a large number of manufacturers in the standardized format of the AAS. This makes AAS easily and quickly available in engineering systems. The access figures for AAS formats on 3Dfindit are already impressive. Together with CADENAS we are looking forward to increase this number”, says Meik Billmann, managing director of IDTA.
