Coreform Awarded DOE SBIR Grant
Monies dedicated toward enhancement of multiphysics simulation tools for nuclear reactor design.
August 7, 2023
Coreform, developer of next-generation computer-aided engineering software, wins grant to incorporate isogeometric analysis technology and graphics processing unit (GPU) capabilities into the MOOSE simulation framework.
Coreform, announces its recent receipt of a competitive Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). This grant will support an innovative project aimed at addressing key limitations in the Office of Nuclear Energy's computer modeling and simulation tools for nuclear reactor design and testing.
“We have a strong working relationship with the team at INL that develops MOOSE (Multiphysics Object-Oriented Simulation Environment),” says Dr. Michael A. Scott, CEO of Coreform. “By integrating isogeometric analysis technology and GPU compatibility into the Office of Nuclear Energy's multiphysics platform, we aim to empower users with greater accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility.”
The DOE's Office of Nuclear Energy has developed the MOOSE platform, which is used for simulating light-water and non-light water reactors. Coreform's expertise in software development, coupled with the support of the DOE SBIR grant, will drive the integration of next-generation isogeometric analysis technology and GPU compatibility into the open-source MOOSE framework. These advancements will revolutionize nuclear reactor simulations, providing a more efficient, accurate, and user-friendly solution for the design and analysis of light-water and non-light water reactors.
